We be married surrounded by China. Do we own to return with a NYS marital certificiate?

My wife is a Chinese citizen, I am a US citizen living in Shanghai. We were married in Nanjing. She have been awarded a CR-1 visa. When we go to the US, do we have to find married again, under NYS law? How does NYS know we are married (she does not have a SSN yet)

Why would you get a New york state wedding certificate? You were married in China fall of story.
Just have all your documentation proving the marriage.
I guess it's contained by Chinese? If so have a FULL translation attached to the original documents.
If she's be given a CR-1, that means that USCIS not only acknowledged that you got married, they in a minute consider her your immigrant spouse. Absolutely no need to file anything else. Simply make sure to find your marriage certificate translated into English. Also, you might be wise to attain the Chinese marriage certificate apostilled before going away for the US. The procedure for this varies by country, so find out. The main reason to find it apostilled is simply so that if, for any other purposes (say, insurance, for example), you are required to show proof of marriage, the apostille will confirm to authorities that it is a valid document under Chinese law.

There is no stipulation for another marriage ceremony. You know all those people who enjoy destination weddings in Mexico, Jamaica, Italy, etc.? They only have to grasp married once. Same for you. :) Source(s): http://www.hcch.net/index_en.php?act=con…
