A Canadian citizen out of stock to an American?
I am a Canadian citizen and in a relationship with an American. He lives in the US, I live within Canada. We have been talking around getting married, and it doesn't matter if I end up living in the US or he comes to Canada. I guess we are freshly looking at what the easiest and quickest process is and that will determine which country we end up living in. I have looked at both the Canadian and US gov't websites and it's so intricate to find any helpful information. I could sponsor him to live in Canada but I don't have the financial channel to do so without him working. We both need to be able to work contained by which ever country we end up in. He is currently in the US Marines so would that trade name a difference to the process? What country would we be able to get married in beside little hassel? It's so frustrating to be in love with somebody and want to spend your lives together but it ends up being so complicated. Any insight into our situation would be appreciated. I want so much to achieve this ball rolling...

In your case immigration to the United States would be VERY easy. Your US boyfriend can file an fiancee petition for you. In smaller amount than a year you'll have a fiancee visa. Upon entering the United States you'll have 90 days to get married. After the wedding you'll file the paperwork to adjust your status and get a green card. You'll have a work voucher in less than 90 days.
You can do it all yourself. No have need of for an attorney. Your boyfriend files 3 forms.... I-129F, I-864 and G-325A. Cost $355.
You wait to be contacted by the US embassy in Ottawa or the US consulate in Canada closest to your home.
When you find married you'll file I-485, I-131 and I-765. Cost $1,010.
****It means you cannot live in the United States until you bring back the fiancee visa. You are free to visit as long as they let you in as a caller. As for the visa, that MUST be issued to you in Canada. That's the law. No, there's no "faster" way.
Being within the Marines only means that he can sponsor you with smaller number income than a non-military American.

If you want to bring him to Canada, what you can do is get married in Canada or US, doesn't issue, then decide if you want to apply inland or outland. If he is staying in Canada, you apply inland, if he is staying within the US, you are applying outland.
You do not have to prove any particular income to sponsor a spouse in Canada but you will be responsible for him if he go on welfare or disability within the next 3 years.
If you apply inland, he will not be able to work until he get first stage approval and temporary work permit. That would take around 7 months so that is to say obviously not the way to go for you. Also his status surrounded by Canada would be uncertain so if he leaves and for whatever reason isn't tolerate back in, the application would be forfeited.
If you apply outland, he stays in the US while his application is approved for PR. He can work within the US and you can work in Canada and you can visit each other. The processing time is average around 7 months for that.
