Is it harder to move to Australia than it is to move to America?

Are Australian Immigration laws stricter than ours?
Answers:
very much so, australian immigration is limited to skilled workers contained by an occupation listed as needing workers

of course in that are spouse and family visa's too
As far as immigration law are concerned, not really... I know that they want you to have a skill ie a degree or a trade etc etc and if you're past the age of working you can buy your route in or be put on a 10 year waiting list to prove you have over $800k within assets.

We're incredibly strict on refugees.
Many Australian family visas (spouse, fiance etc) are easier and faster to get than similar visas for the USA (and we provide spouse visas for de facto and same sex couples), but adjectives of our other visas are much, much harder to get. We simply will not accept immigrants who don't own qualifications and experience in listed occupation in which we need workers and we insist on good English skills for adjectives immigrants (except parents on family reunion visas). Apart from a few thousand refugees and asylum seekers, everyone must be forthwith employable in a job for which there aren't plenty suitable qualified Australians or existing immigrants and the occupatuion lists and requirements are tweaked frequently. We are also MUCH tougher on illegals and they are invariably deported or detained when uncovered. To be honest and realistic though, that's unsurprisingly much easier when you don't have land borders with any other countries.
