Why on loam should the USA increase the numbers of legitimate immigrant?

Why do the chronically misinformed think this will help reduce unsanctioned immigration? There was a time when this country NEEDED large numbers of immigrants to backing tame the lands but that time ended by the begining of the 20th century. We no longer need sizeable numbers of immigrants, we need QUALITY immigrants immediately; those with education, with marketable skills, those who are not potential to ever apply for public aid.

We have numbers set for a reason, we don't want or need to overwhelm the system here.

So there is a transcript of who is here, where they live, whether they have overstayed their visa, whether they are criminals or terrorists.

They are coming anyway, if we are not going to stop them at least try to hang on to track of them.
Legal immigration quotas hold been reduced significantly in recent years directly BECAUSE of the huge influx of illegal immigrant. People who suggest raising quotas to "fix" the problem are the same people who want to "fix" the illicit alien problem through amnesty. It "fixes" nothing (as we have learned contained by the past). It's just as if we gave amnesty to every rapist in the country and made rape officially recognized. If we did that we'd drastically reduce our crime rate AND immediately change our elimate any rape and (in the minds of these delude people) also suddenly make the country safer because we'd have less disorderly crime.

This sort of solution solves nothing. It's just smoke and mirrors.
Actually, we necessitate to raise the numbers for both high tech and ordinary folks. We also stipulation to actually efficiently process applications for visas.

The reality is that we own a very low birth rate in this country and a very low severance rate. There are more illegal immigrants employed in this country than the number of individuals looking for jobs. In plain English, that means that there are not ample people legally in this country to crawl all the available jobs. Thus, we do need some optional immigration to fill those jobs.

The numbers are set for a reason and that grounds is POLITICS not sound policy.

Changing the numbers will not necessarily reduce illegal immigration but shifting the numbers and adequately staffing those reviewing visa applications will. A large number of illegals in this country are brought here by companies unwilling to hang around through the extensive delay in the current system for approval of work visas. Eliminate that delay and give in enough visas to satisfy the needs of those companies and you will create a major dent in illegal immigration.
We shouldn't.
