Do you support the ammendment to the stimulus?

that stipulates that E-VERIFY will be mandated for all infrastructure jobs that the stimulus creates?

A switch congressional panel has approved U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston's proposal to deny economic stimulus jobs to criminal immigrants.

The Savannah Republican's amendment was added to a $358 million spending bill that cleared the Appropriations Committee late Wednesday.

Even so, Kingston say he will oppose the bill, sought by President Obama, when it comes to the House floor, possibly next week.

"While I cannot support this package, I am hearten that any jobs created by it will be ... for American workers," he said. "We cannot allow illegal aliens to benefit from this."

His amendment calls for contractors hired beside stimulus money to verify the eligibility of their workers through a process called E-Verify.

Operated by the Department of Homeland Security, E-Verify is intended to tell employers instantly the permissible status of job applicants. Created in 1996, the Internet-based program has weathered political controversy and litigation.

"We've get a federal program on our hands that actually works," he said, noting that it's "99 percent" streamlined. "I can't think of a single federal program with that success rate."

Kingston aide Chris Crawford said he does not expect an attempt to assassinate the Kingston amendment when the bill comes to the House floor.

But if that should happen, Kingston will assert his right to a recorded vote and that would make trouncing of the amendment unlikely, Crawford said.

Crawford acknowledged, however, that it could face trouble in the Senate, where Robert Menendez, D-N.J., have opposed re-authorization of E-Verify.

U.S. Rep. John Barrow, Chatham County's other House member, is not on the Appropriations Committee. But the Savannah Democrat said he supports the amendment.

"Americans ... need our help," he said. "But we obligation to make sure they actually get the benefit of doesn`t matter what we do. ... That money shouldn't go to folks who don't have the right to be here in the first place."

Barrow have not decided whether to support the stimulus package, saying he desires time to examine its hastily written provisions. Those include road, bridge, water, sewer and health-care information technology projects and call for upgrading the nation's electricity grid.

Following hours of debate, the spending bill passed the committee on a 35-22 party-line vote.

Kingston call it "100 percent deficit spending" and said the government has spent $1 trillion since August, increasing the national debt to $10.6 trillion.

Crawford said Kingston also objects that it was "drawn up bringing up the rear closed doors" by majority Democrats, with no GOP input.

Still trying to justify the necessitate for greater government beaurocracy.... The Dept of Homeland Security is such a joke.

Ah yes.. a contridiction in expressions. In fact, E Verify will help Homeland Security a great deal. We will KNOW who is within country.

I have to get into that link up here, but as you presented it... yes. I do support it.

But I would like to point out that the Federal Government is telling us ...our sources of information are not reliable... While they tell us that, they do not provide anything at adjectives that does tell us, for example, a guesstimate of the number of illegal aliens in this country. The Feds may economically decide there are only six million criminal aliens in the country, find those six million, and then tell us... They are allllllll gone in a minute. You can sleep.

IF we can move this counting business out of whos data is better, and move it to a mandatory e-verify, I don't care what kind of numbers the Feds dream up, everyone hired will any be a legal worker in this country, or that employer will pay a huge fine if we are lucky.

I adamently support E-Verify immediately because it removes us from those ugly data bases that can be manipulate far, far better than La Raza already does.
The "stimulus" handouts are zilch more than further mental conditioning for the people to welcome and expect the government to completely control every aspect of American life span.
Damn it! WHY won't Americans wake up??
Yes I do and I think E-Verify should be used in adjectives aspects of employment hiring and re-evaluation processes! They need to go and we need the dough!
You know, I really haven't kept up on it, because it irritates me that the stimulous was even granted. I definately think it should be spent soley on the American ancestors.
These gov jobs manifestly need to go to American workers, only.
Can you envisage what would have happened if the statement had be about "black construction workers"? All h@ll would have broken loose.

Especially since it is against federal law to donate illegals a job. And Obama has stated we need to enforce our law. It was one of his reasons for shutting down GITMO
i don't want anyone getting bailed out.but if it is to happen.i definitely don't want a illegal getting it!
I believe that E-verify should be used in all job, and in social services. Also add thumb print to the system. Yes I know not all those have thumbs, I'm still working on that.
Yes, I agree with it, but Obama's FDR-like spending orgy is not what this country needs. The GOP should not vote for this trillion dollar pork fest, but do not stop it with a filibuster. Let the blame for this insanity fall over solely on the Dems.

E-verify should be the law of the land! We need this to face-off the plague of 20 million illegal aliens in our great country.
Still trying to justify the need for greater government beaurocracy.... The Dept of Homeland Security is such a banter.
Yes, I would support that amendment to the bill fully. However, I am quite disturbed by the remarks of Obama's advisor Robert Reich that these jobs should not go to white manly construction workers, many of whom have been displaced contained by their jobs by illegal aliens already.

To much to read, I don't agree beside the Stimulus package to put people to work doing painting , repair work, condition care here in the US...that is close to you being in debt and borrowing money to pay your children to verbs house. We should be using the money for creating businesses that create a product to sell to the world, something new that the world needs. Food, Drugs, Alternative Energy, Alternative transportation.
If we do not assembly products to sell, we have nothing.
SC is broke, we hold no manufacturing, but paying out the Wazoo in Unemployment benefits..where are the individuals going to work? They took all the low wage jobs textile and shipped them to china. You can tell the state of the reduction in your area by the businesses that have popped up. Here trial business are CASH IN ADVANCE, PAWN SHOPS, LOAN OFFICES, RENT TO OWN, DOLLAR STORES, ...NOT A GOOD SIGN!
