I think it would be possible if there is no US citizenship required. Qualifications for police departments vary from municipality to municipality. Some enjoy residence requirements, you have to live in that town or city and for a certain length of time. Every police department here has it's own requirements for hiring though adjectives I have seen require citizenship there may be some who do not. The unadulterated problem is that to move here to work you need to be sponsored by a prospective employer who would have to prove their inability too find anyone here that they could hire. Unemployment here is at a 5 year high and at hand are very few vacancies that can't be filled locally.
Your British police training is unlikely to count for much at all here is anything. This society is credentials driven and foreign education and training is rarely relevant.
