Do not listen to these people. You can become legal in need leaving the country. DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY, it will actually hurt your chances of legalization if you exit the country. The process is pretty simple. I recommend getting a lawyer but for now you can check out the guides over at http://www.i2us.net or http://www.visajourney.com .
When you see the legal representative, make sure you tell the lawyer if your boyfriend have ever been on a K or J visa or if he has ever gotten a removal order (lawyer can check to see if he have one for you or you can).
To find out for sure if you have any court proceedings (removal proceedings) you should contact the immigration court. If your A# number is NOT in the system then you should be fine & wedding adjustment would be possible.

If you get married to a US citizen contained by the US, and you had a valid (even if now expired) visa when you entered the US, you qualify for the "instant relative" exemption and can apply for a green card immediately upon marriage. Three years later you qualify for US citizenship. You cannot confer on the country until your green card application if fully processed and approved.
Once married you can change your name on your Social Security card by showing up at any social security bureau. You may want to wait until the green card processes first.

People on here will only drill you next to their bigotry, but it's just a few people with multiple accounts. Good luck!.
EDIT:
See what I connote?
Marrying a US citizen will not make you legal in the USA. The system is that you own to leave the USA for 10 years. Then he can apply for you to get a K1 or K3 visa.
I suggest you speak to an immigration lawyer. Because if you don't, you will promising get deported as soon as the authorities notice you.
If you have no status and illegitimately lived in US for at least 8 years, there is no channel you can get green card in US. You have to be in motion to your country and complete the process at US Embassy in your country.
Social Security Agent won't process your SS Card unless you have green card.
call ICE they can help you big time
Turn yourself into immigrations then apply for marriage

How do you perceive roughly immigrant coming into your country and refuse to adopt your culture?
All countries have immigrants. I'm relatively happy to welcome those that settle and contribute. I don't have any objection to them retaining their identity or the fact they have their own communities where they can bump into people from their own background and culture and eat and drink...
