I want to be a citizen within USA?
What are the requirements?
Answers:
satisfying out the necessary paperwork.
You enjoy to be legally resident in the US
You have to enjoy acquired a green card (which requires 3-5 years' residence in the US, around $1000 in fees, unless you are a beneficiary of the US military or married a citizen)
You have to have held a green card for at least 5 years and own been legally resident in the US for times past 5 years (can't have gone on trips for longer than 6 months at a time)
You have to submit an application for naturalization (N-400 form on the USCIS website) which involves getting fingerprinted and having a perspective check, as well as a cost of around $700
You have to submit to an interview where you are question about your application and your desire for US citizenship
You have to pass a civics and English examination at this interview
Then you have to wait until you receive a summons to go to your citizenship ceremony, where on earth you take an oath rejecting your previous citizenship (some countries don't recognize this, but you might lose your previous citizenship)
During the application process, you must not have vanished the US for more than a few months, you have to keep up your legal residency
It's a complex process and it took me 15 months only to get citizenship after already having a green card and the required amount of residence. If you aren't eligible for a green card yet, your best hope would be short occupancy visas for students/working (available at USCIS website) but the process is long and complicated, and there aren't many visas available.
