The Secure Fence Act, signed by the President
in 2006, mandated the construction of 700 miles of double layered fence along the southern U.S. border. But it hasn't happen. Worse yet, through some political maneuvering, The Democrat controlled Congress eliminated the double-layered fence requirement and in a minute only 370 miles of "fencing" needs to be built--be it mesh, vehicle barrier, or insect netting?
However, Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC) have taken the initiative and sponsored H.R. 4987--Fence by Date Certain Act. This bill restores the Secure Fence Act's 854 miles of double layered fence.
Given the situation, the time is NOW to pressure Congress to make good on their promise to build the double-layered barrier!

dude, we dont need a fence, basically punish people that hire illegals... it's not hard to spot which countries hire illegals... it's the easiest thing contained by the world... i could tell you in my town which countries hire illegals.. and im not a brain surgeon, it's just adjectives sense... punish the companies, not the taxpayers to build a fence. The companies are the ones that would rather hire illegals rather than their own american neighbors. Congress have not appropriated funds for this. The way it goes is that they pass a bill to build a paling (to make Americans happy), do not appropriate funds to build it, tear the bill apart and still do not appropriate funds and then it dies. Big business win again.

The barrier is only going to work if they put landmines and razor wire along the top - enforcement and prosecution and fines to employer will definitely help the situation - unfortunately, our miserable system does nothing to stop the flow -tempting to run for office or campaign for our rights!
