due to contributions of immigrant labour; and the biggest factor behind welfare dependency in Britain a paucity of "basic employability skills and motivation" ie not immigrants 'stealing' jobs.

"Lack of skills" could be address by the Govt being prepared to fund those (like my partner) who wants to train in a trade but cannot lift the funds to pay the course fees and has been denied a stupid "Career Development Loan" by the High Strete Banks because of a blotched credit rating (as if previous poverty and financial problems should prevent someone from retraining and having a brighter future anyway . . .). Its cheaper to import ready-trained foreign job than pay to invest in your own people.
Now wheres my lb1,650? I haven't see it . . .

Certain section of the indiginous population have been disadvantaged (young families and the poorer section of society), who are in competition with the immigants for jobs, housing, schooling and medical carefulness. But in a decade, surely in attendance is so much inflation and change in economic stability for mixed reasons that immigration can only be one of them?
I think immigrant are good for the UK, but there should be a limit of some sort- tradesmen are really getting it bad- their father could live comfortably off a building/carpentry job. They can earn minimum wage!
Well, for myself I am willing to work 80 hours a week surrounded by the care industry (I am English) but over the last 12 months I have see this happen: one Rumanian woman coming as a permanent worker, then her husband, afterwards her two brothers. From Hungary, a female support worker and her husband (a cleaner). From Latvia, a full time support worker (female). From the Phillipines, one woman - then her husband, her brother, and her niece. From UK: a full time female worker getting her partner three darkness shifts a week. It goes on and on. I am a bank support worker so I am second in the ranking. PS: Ask any foreign worker to spell hierarchy. I have lost hours and hours of work, and nowwaiting to hear if I have another livelihood as a support worker somewhere else. But guess what? My rival applicants are all from Africa. So who is more likely to get the post? I am extremely bitter and now after all these years I AM RACIST. Immigrant labour? You, and the parliament, should ask English 'insiders' like me. A boost to the economy also includes spending on the NHS to treat people, cost of hiring extra teacher / translators etc.
Then after all that look at the split of who get what as far as income goes! The UK have the largest discrepancy between rich poor since records began!

Ten years ago I worked near Lithuanian and Belorussian volunteers on a 'self-build project' building a day centre for the homeless. They worked hard and cheerfully for two weeks for no reward, just the chance to be in the UK. During the work though, they be curious to know - why is it the homeless of Watford weren't working on the site themselves?
Immigration isn't responsible for the rise in fuel prices, the rise in food prices, nor, I would suggest, the rise in housing costs (which, in attendance being plenty of empty housing in the UK, have occurred owing to greed over the last decade and people seeking to currency in on 'buy to let' - and incidentally, if British buy-to-letters hadn't driven the cost of an apartment in most cities in Eastern Europe stratospherically beyond the conquer of the average citizen of that country, maybe fewer would have come to hope their fortune here). For myself, when I'm decrepit and failing, I hope to God that some Polish or Nigerian carer will be putting me to bed, regardless of their competency to spell (which in my experience isn't exactly a forte of the typical British worker), rather than some bitter English time-server, resentful of their colleagues, and resentful that the previous desperate shortage of workers in the corral having gone has lowered their own relative value.
