Please Help Me! this is almost acquire citizenship.?
Guys please help me,basically both of my parents are Filipinos, but I was born and baptized on Japan, im 19 already. My parents used to work contained by Japan, but before i turned 1 yr old, we all go back in the Philippnes. and for almost 19 yrs, i still dont have my citizendhip fix, i know its nature a silly, but were still thinking if i can have a dual citizendhip for japan and philippines.
Now my question is, can i aquire a dual citizenship within japan, even if i was only born there?
Note:Japan and Philippines are both following the principle of jus sanguinis( canon of blood). Now im confused if i can aquire the dual citizenship.
Please help me..Thank you so much!^_^
Answers:
Nationality by birth
Japan is a jus sanguinis state, meaning that it attributes citizenship by blood, not by location of birth. Article 2 of the Nationality Act provides three situations in which a human being can become a Japanese national at birth:
When either parent is a Japanese national at the time of birth
When the father dies before the birth and is a Japanese national at the time of death
When the party is born on Japanese soil and both parents are unknown or stateless
so? no, you are not and cannot become a citizen of Japan.
jus sanguinis :birth in a country by parents who are already Japanese.
