A Canadian getting US Citizenship? Marrage probably? Help, please?
Ok, so i want to get my boyfriend to become a US citizen. He lives in Canada.
I don't know how the process works, but we don't have much for money, I plan for him to move contained by with me and my parents in June. They actually WANT him to move contained by, because the love him so much.
Iv'e heard multiple diffrent answers, I want to get married to him, maybe inside a year or so. So if that helps things, tell me.
I'm so confused, please help me. I have need of to get thinking on this before it gets too behind.
Answers:
It would make it easier, if you got married first.
They won't tolerate him move to the states to work (legally) just because you want him to.
If an wicked immigrant gets married to an American citizen - they are able to get citizenship (I think). Double check me, but I give attention to that's how the law works.
For your boyfriend to become a US citizen you first have to get married.
You would have to petition him to come to the USA next to a K1 fiance visa.
Within 90 days after that you have to get married and then database form I-130 petition for alien relative, and he must file for I-485, adjustment of status. When these forms are approved by the USCIS, he will get his green card.
Three years after he gets his green card, he is eligible to apply for citizenship. Source(s): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index....
