Do you feel it is a moral model to stop paying for interpreters for immigrant but instead initiate them English?
It would seem like common sense as it would be cheaper on the taxpayer and would upgrade the quality of life for the migrant as they would be able to read between the lines the radio and TV, read signs, fill in forms, apply for jobs and follow everything that was said to them first hand.
It is a policy that the English Democrats want to adopt, personally I reason it is a good idea. What do you think?

If anything its a total lack of respect for any immigrant not to speak the language of the host country.
In the US that would be unconstitutional. They have certain rights to share and be informed in some situations (like a trial) and if you fail to conduct those things in a demeanour they can understand, their constitutional rights have been violated. Whether they should be capable of understand in English or not is irrelevant. They can't, that's the bottom line.
Definitely if they want to live in a country that speaks English they should own to learn the language.
it disgusts me that they don't learn our verbal skill off their own back. even when i go on holiday i build maximum effort to learn the language of that out of the ordinary nation before hand as a sign of respect to that destination. foreigners are coming here to LIVE and are not motivated to do so. why should we spend any money helping them, as their way is the right path

immigrants don't go and get interpreters. Once you get accepted as a refugee, you must go on ESOL training. Seems sensible to me.
We should do both. If someone doesn't want to learn English, it's his/her right. If they hold a living in which they use their native language and go and get by, them it's best to not bother them and make them feel hunted in what is supposed to be a diverse society. They should be respected for who they are. If they necessitate an interpreter every now and then in some court house or anything, it should always be provided.

Everybody writes as if it is the easiest thing in the world to swot a new language. I moved from England to Thailand 13 years ago. I'm now 64 years outmoded. Whilst I went to school and learned the nuts and bolts of speaking, reading and writing Thai it is far from easy and I am by no means fluent. In England I learned bits of English from my family circle for the first 5 years of my life. After that I was taught by professional teacher at school for the next ten years. Learning a language take a great deal of time. You cannot expect somebody to arrive from India or where ever and speak English fluently the next time. From the answers from some of the alleged U.K. people on Yahoo Answers I wonder if English is the hardest language in the world because their English is greatly poor.
Great Idea.
