Points based systems usually allow for would-be immigrants to assess their own ability to see if they are compatiable. It can allow countries to be more selective if they keep changing the requirements (eg what jobs are considered high-ranking in demand) and help discourage people who don't fit the criteria. Hopefully it should result within a higher calibre of immigrant - highly educated, financially independent associates who are not seeking to come here and sponge off the Government.

And as fewer people will qualify, I believe it would result in less immigration as well.
possibly it will result in a higher calibre immigrant

one with skills to contribute ....rather than those who come here to get everything this country has to proposition ...and give nothing in return

will it still miserable that we get arranged marriages so that immigrants are allowed to bypass any restrictions? if so ......we will be no better sour as these are the people who often are a drain on society and offer little oother than plenty of children surrounded by british schools and an added burden to the NHS
I reckon it will lead to higher immigration.
oh for god sake. can you point me in the direction of a brick wall to beat my head against please. why do they bother to infer up this c r a p? im off for a lie down in a darkened room immediately. The points system as used by Canada and Australia results in less immigration as well as more selective immigration
it will be harder as they will call for money and a job and housing, if you had money would you immigrate to the UK and not get benefits?
