How promising am I to obtain a charge within the US?
I'm 19, and British and would like to work in the US, at least from a short while. I'm aware that the US is rather a difficult country to legally immigrate to, and that they have strict regulations as to who companies employ from overseas, etc. Apprently, they own to prove that no American is available to take the job before they can sponsor a foreign citizen.
Currently, I enjoy no qualifications above the equalvalent of High School level, but I have be toying with the idea of doing a degree, and I guess lacking a degree, I might as well even forget the idea?
Thanks for any info/advice.

If you become a student at a US university, you can work for them but nowhere else - well - maybe the British embassy. Or a British pub for a short while.
You have a better chance of getting an UNskilled position than a skilled position... the US is crawling with unskilled conditional, seasonal and LEGAL workers who come here through the H1A, H2A or H2B visa programs.
But don't expect that will get you in the door to immigrate permanently. You enjoy to proove you have significant ties to your home country and that you will return there at the end of your work contract.
Google H2B visa program - you can't miss the thousands of entries near that will give you a better idea on how and where to apply.
yes - get the degree - excellent impression
yes - with no degree you can forget the idea.
Here is the best plan. Go to any college her that will accept you. Start sending out applications like a salad shooter. While your here get married, even if it is some portly chick. Once you're married and have an anchor baby you'll be set. Below is a link to the college I go to. It is in Kentucky easy to get into, not too expensive, super hot chicks, smooth to graduate from. They would really want you to go there because they would think you would join something because your British. 80% of the students at this college are local. That is the plan now do it.

Toying w. the impression of not shooting yourself huh? Forget the US they don't do toying it's dead competitive, even if you just want to be a waiter for a while they expect you to be super professional, at least contained by England you can still muddle by. In big cities like NY you can always find work and there is a total market specifically for illegal aliens, that could cure you of 'toying' for the rest of your life! Its easier to come here as a student, and you are allowed to work to a positive extent. If only high school horizontal, you can't come here under an employment visa.
Based on your present situation, you don't qualify for a long-term work visa to US. And I assume that you know that you cannot work on a Visa Waiver. You, however, can run to US for up to 3 months on a Visa Waiver and see for yourself if there are any opportunities (work, school, college).
There are also J-1 Exchange guest visas, which can allow someone to work. It can be used for a summer work-travel, however, you should be enrolled into college and be enrolled through your sponsor organization within UK. Source(s): uscis.gov
