What's the aggregate cost per prevented border crossing of that ridiculous barricade along the US-Mexico border?
Answers:
I don't care if it costs trillions of dollars. If it keeps drug traffickers, immigrant smugglers, illegal alien gang member out of the US it's worth it.
The cost is illustrious if you do not deal with the illegal aliens and their drastically criminal ways.
The cost is very low if you DO deal with the bent aliens and their crooked ways.
There are good illegal aliens out there, but more and more, basically the bad ones are coming. Way to much of the traffic deals with narcotics and it have to stop.
However.. the law of the land, approved by the people, dictates that the illicit aliens be removed form our land. That is happening too.
With the fence within place, the aggregate cost if far, far less. 8 Billion would be the cost to build from the Pacific to the Gulf and it is estimated it would save about 16 billion surrounded by costs related to deportment.
1 bullet? 20 cents. THAT is the way to stop race from crossing.
Personally, I hate borders, but according to conventional wisdom, it's cheaper to have the border suntan not to have it...
Watch the movie "A day without a Mexican" it is both funny and unfolding, not to mention politicaly incorrect.
That's going to be difficult to answer because, by definition, you're trying to measure something that won't exist (i.e. an illegal border crossing event). The only process you'd be able to tell is if you interviewed everyone who might want to cross but didn't -- but they're all surrounded by Mexico!
And more importantly, what is the opportunity cost associated with preventing cheap labor from entering the US work force?

A lot less than the $10,000 per child per year the education of their children costs us.
however, just stopping the subsidies, nurture, health care, food stamps for family, etc would promising be more effective and logical. Just quit 'refusing' to ask for proof of legal residence at schools, police stations, voting booths, etc.
If zilch else, it will remove a huge amount of the damage from their being here. Even the job competition would be a somewhat flatter playing area since at least they will have to pay their own family's track rather than have it subsidized by the taxes of the workers they are competing against for jobs.
Subsidies stir up an action. Yet they are trying to mandate that so long as a parent SAYS their child is legally here, you can't check further to give them child form care benefits under the new program (which covers up to 30 years of age). What insanity is that?
The reality that Congress refuses to apply common sense to this issue was the first chief discordance leading me to research news for myself and to conclude that congress works for special interests, not for citizens.
They don't really prevent any - they get to cross 12-15 times before anything happens.
