What are your thoughts on California rejects the involve for psyche to vote, ACLU claims long lines and cost = NO?

In California, the Democratic-led Legislature since 2000 has rejected a dozen Republican bills related to voter identification. Current law does not require California voters to show ID at polling places except for controlled cases in which voters do not provide a Social Security number or driver's license upon registration.

The Assembly Committee on Elections and Redistricting killed a proposal in January by Assemblyman Bob Huff, R-Diamond Bar, requiring California voters to show one of six forms of ID at a polling place. Under Assembly Bill 9, a voter short identification could use a provisional ballot but would be required to show a valid ID card to the county registrar within five days. The bill failed on a party-line vote and is departed for the year.

Opponents included the American Civil Liberties Union, as well as public employee unions such as the California Teachers Association. Critics said the bill raise constitutional problems similar to those in the Supreme Court case and expressed concerns that an ID requirement would impose current costs on some voters and deter others by creating long waits at polling places. http://www.sacbee.com/111/story/897129.h...
Now when anyone asks you “Who does your government work for?” — you can answer them with “anyone but American citizens who can provide a vote”....
Answers:
ID was put to use within the past to discourage black voters from voting as well as refusal to allow black voters to vote.

The question a soul could ask is if it can be seen you are old enough to vote what purpose is there to ask for ID.

The idea of voter fraud is like an Orwellian adjectives. People come to vote the idea of saying there is concern that culture who come to vote might not be voters seems like a cover for making sure only reliable types of voters get to vote. Who else but a voter would come to vote. Why not ban Bush from voting then as within was concern of election rigging in his see. As to concern of Illegals written of by an answerer the same can apply a vote is a vote and cannot be illegal there can be no improper voting.
Just another case where Socialist California goes against the rest of the country. The regulation has been upheld. It is legal and prudent to verify voters hold the right to cast their vote. It is the best way to reduce voter fraud. Well, the ACLU have also made it possible for neo-Nazis to march the streets, and for pregnant women to smoke crack. So, this doesn't surprise me.
It is the ONLY agency to reduce voter fraud and prevent illegals from voting. That is the ONLY reason they are opposed to it. I contemplate you should have to provide ID.
He!! if I had it my way you'd enjoy to provide a high school diploma too. As well as an English literacy tryout!
I wonder now if George Bush did things the route he did to arrive at almost this exact spot. I wonder if he deliberalty set us up with a very weak Republican Party.

I wonder too... will California implode?
Darren, I want to come live surrounded by your imaginary world!

Checking ID at the voting booth isn't to check their age! It's to see if the person trying to vote is 1) registered 2) a US citizen and 3) the person he claims to be.

Who would try to vote except a voter? Well, anyone who needed to impact an election! Or a homeless person who just requests the $10 he's been promised. Or an immigrant who has been dishonestly told that he can vote w/ just his electric bill as proof of residency.

It's a felony to register to vote if you're not a citizen (falls under "impersonating a citizen").

In adjectives states, you are required to have your drivers license "on your person" while driving, and many states require you to carry ego at all times. Very few people lack psyche - mainly just those who don't want to be identified (ie: hiding) and those who are here illegally. Even homeless empire have id - they need them for medicare and gov't benefits.

In Indiana, which is where on earth the recent Supreme Court case started, state issued id is FREE. All you need is a birth authorization and proof of address.
I am not surprised. It is hard for me to imagine a registered voter tolerating a long line and the cost of going to the movie theater and not tolerating a long flash at the voting places. EVERY time I vote there is a long line.
Another thing that is to say odd is the way the ACLU plays both sides of the fence by truism showing ID to vote would both create long lines AND deter people from voting. I would think it would be one or the other, after all, the more family are deterred the shorter the lines would be right? It's telling of the corruption just be looking at who supports what and who does not.

The Demos (well named) will do anything, including being outright crooked or marginally so, to attempt to win.

The problem is, the are so STUPID almost their mo's the continually shoot themselves in the foot ...as they think they put their BEST foot forward.

I"m not a Demo any more. I once was an I am continuously anxious that this was the case.
It would reduce waits at the polling places. 5 million risky Mexicans wouldn't be allowed to vote! With 5 million less voters the lines would have to get shorter! If the SCOTUS passed a Federal canon upholding Indiana’s I.D. law, doesn’t it partain to all Federal elections by ALL the states just as the marijuana feed. law partains to all states?
If I write a check for $.58 I have to show my ID.
If I want to have a drink at a bar I hold to show my ID.
If I get pulled over by a cop I have to show my ID.

Which is more important the items above or the most far-reaching thing a citizen can do.

Yes ID me please, Please, Really here is my ID

Who would not want to show it?

Creating a long line at the polling booths is rediculouse. I have to recount them my name and they look it up on the roster. Checking the ID would take less than 2 second in a 45 second process.
