Where do high-educated immigrant move?
I am interested to study in a country that favors high-educated immigrants. My future profession is probably surrounded by Mathematics and Finance which would mean traveling a lot. Can someone recommend me a country to look at? US may not be the right choice because Economist reported, some time ago, that US accepts just a partition of its candidates, which was different contained by the past. This is really shame as there are the top universities. So where on earth do the best immigrants now end up? Have some countries replaced the US or what is the trend among immigrant? Do they easily get the citizenship after their studies? In nutshell, where are the countries that favor high-educated immigrant?
Answers:
All countries favor highly-educated immigrants that have a high smooth of skills and experience that cannot be found locally. Yes, it is very sad that only almost 30-40% of applicants for an H-1B visa are selected in a random lottery currently. The USA has shifted from wanting the best and most skilled/talented people to protecting their own unskilled and lazy people's available job security, thus preventing them from having to be globally competitive. All it does is contribute to the struggling reduction here, because companies have to pay US Citizens huge bloated salaries for a below-market horizontal of output from their professional employees :)
Some skilled immigrants that are turned away from the USA end up within Canada, some in the UK. Australia is also becoming a popular and desirable place to live.
Countries like Australia, Canada and the UK are (moderately) open to immigration. Canada and Australia accept several well-qualified immigrants and they grant permanent residency (and subsequently citizenship) for the most qualified ones because their system is based on giving scores on the basis of your smooth of education and work experience. There is not much work for immigrants in continental Europe since EU applicant countries exchange their labor force. It is a very narrow-minded view to state it is a shame on the US that they cannot adopt more immigrants. Everything has limits and what can you do if they simply don't necessitate more? You can't blame the country just because most sectors of the job open market are full.
