How long will it purloin my American wife to attain a British passport, whilst living within the UK?
I have an Irish passport and we have been married and living contained by the UK for 2 years now. She is currently on an European Economic Area (EEA) Family Permit - but she wants to get British citizenship immediately, how long before she can apply?
Answers:
I'm not sure she can apply for a British citizenship, as you are not a citizen, she should be entitled to permanent residence after 5 years though, not sure when after that date she can apply, however she may be eligible for an irish passport as you are Irish I think after you one married for 4 years she would qualifiy, the other way is for you to become a UK citizen and then after being married for 4 years she would become one too.
If you're British she should be capable of apply for citizenship through marriage, but if not she will have to lurk three more years to apply through naturalization, then she can apply for a passport.
