Where do I find an immigration legal representative for immigration to Canada?

I'm from the US and this might be a dumb question but I was wondering where do you look for an immigration advocate for immigration to Canada? When people say they hire an immigration lawyer or natter to one for cosulation, do they look in their country of residence for one or do they have to go to Canada to find one for immigration to Canada? I kinda figure you would have to go to Canada due to different laws within different countries. But anyway, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

You don't need a lawyer unless you have a problem approaching a criminal conviction or former deportation or something. Not all, but some "immigration consultants" are scam artists. Be careful there.

www.cic.gc.ca probably have all the information you need.
I know this isn't an answer to your question but thank you so much for asking it. I be just about to ask the same article. What state are you in? I'm trying to help my bf move up from the US too. Thanks Leon for your website link...that's awesome!!

By the route I don't know what you do for work but there is a fast track program for people within certain trades right now. This is a good website. If you own any of the trades you can get in super fast or if you own immediate family who can sponsor you or you go to college here.
