stop all non - EU immigration unless they are highly skilled doctors, engineers, scientists etc. We don't need any more race to clean toilets and serve coffees, surely ?!

Sadly, because the UK no longer has any borders, so there is no longer a WE. The EU decide policy.
Contrary to popular belief there are tight controls on immigration. We hold already stopped non-eu immigration for everyone but the highly skilled. You have your wish.
There is a points system to immigration that vitally does what you say- stops all immigration from people who don't have skills we desperately obligation.
A friend of mine came here under the old points mission. He's now been deported because the list of needed skills have got shorter and his skills aren't on it.
As that would make sense, new hard work are deluded.
Especially as the UK is expected to loose 300,000 jobs in the effective future.
