In the years after the end of the Second World War, Canada accpepted mostly European imigrants.
During the tcareer of Pierre Trudeau, as Canadian Prime Miniister , that policy changed, to bring in more relatives from Africa, Asia and China. He never put this to a vote by the publlic, he just pushed it thru Parliament, with his huge majority of seats.
Now Canada have about 200,000 immigrants approved per year.
