US citizen - Can I verbs my online undertaking from the US while living within Canada (waiting for residency papers)?
I've never really gotten a clear answer on this, no matter who I asked - perhaps someone here is either doing something similar, or would know.
I married a canadian citizen, and moved to Calgary after the wedding ceremony. We're waiting for my residency papers to be accepted, but find ourselves in a financial bind with simply one salary (surprise medical bills).
With me being a US citizen, is it legal for me to work for a US-based company, and deposit the paychecks into my husband's accounts? I know I'm excluded to work in Canada, but I wasn't sure if that counted towards working for US-based companies as well.
Thanks.
(before it's said - I called immigration canada just about this, was put on hold for two hours at a time during three attempts each day for the later two weeks, then was disconnected each time - so I'm trying here quickly)
Answers:
You are allowed to work for a US-based company and you will enjoy to get pay by US and have US to withhold your taxes both within state and federal.
You should have your own account and the company should wire the paycheck into your statement.
Just be save, don't transfer your paycheck to your husband's account. In armour there is any problems with your immigration process.
You should always play free in this kind of situation.
make sure you own US company withhold some taxes to prove you are not working illegally.
Yes, as long as you are not being remunerated in America. I would check the USCIS website to see the details on the Law with this. If you are being rewarded and taxed in Canada and being rewarded into your Canadian Account you should be OK

My father be only granted an immigrant visa to enter the US. How long will it lift to receive his green card?
And, Will that green card be permanent or temporary? My dad's mom is very sick and he may hold to travel back to his hometown in case of an emergency. Is near any limit on the time he will have to stay here...
