No TV and Internet.
first of all I would say the hardest thing would be the prose barrier, some of the ones coming here where barely literate permit alone been taught some element of english prior to coming here, and within certainly was NOT any system in place that help them with ESL classes, it was [and to some degree still should be] sink or swim.

Often population would arrive with nothing but a few small possessions that they could carry and if really lucky a contact of some one already here.

Health issues be also a problem for a lot of people, poor housing, poor sanitation etc have other been breding grounds for people in the lower soc econ sector.
That one is a humdinger and you really need to read the information on it from a couple of books. I will update you that the frontier filled up in 1886 and while that happened, the dollars be still a contracting money in economic terms. We did not enjoy inflation.. we had deflation. The effect of that on the people of the land be profound: it drove them into very serious poverty and began the process of yet another rework when folks responded by moving to the city.

You really need to read this book.

The Jungle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jungle (1906) is a novel written by author and socialist journalist Upton Sinclair. ... Sinclair, "The Jungle" ISBN 1-884365-30-2, pp i ...

It is the story of a Russian Immigrant that come to this country and his experiences after he got here. It should be lingered on ... it should be read. It be a very influential book that led to the implementation of Pure Foods and Drugs. You will also win a first hand look at the way folks were treated.

A couple of things to memo when you are reading it: the meat processed was used to feed people within the Hospitals and Sanitariums, the Military, and the Indian Reservations. If you cannot read it for your paper.. make sure you read it for yourself. Upton Sinclare was elected California Governor for writing that book by the means of access and who he was, and what he did for this country is a key to thinking by the people.

Piling more work on you would come across to be a not way to help you. It is a critical period.. it be a critical book.

just go to your rummage through bar and type in immigration 1880 - 1920. they faced profoundly of hardships. they left their hme land, nearest and dearest and personal belonging behind. they came here and had to struggle to survive. not much different presently. we united states americans face hard ships everyday.
My grandfather come from Italy at 8 years old. His only companion? His 11 year old brother. When they get here, they were told their names were "too long" and have their names immediately changed. They learned English because they be proud to be in America. They didn't expect the government to print everything in their poetry. They both started working 60 hours a week and wound up working in the steel industry. Most other jobs wouldn't even hire an Italian! They became successful AMERICANS and raise wonderful families.
ok...thats wrong..do your own homework..do the research yourself.
