When renewing a passport what happen to your visas contained by your outdated passport?
I moved to the UK from the US 3 years ago to marry the man who is now my husband. At the moment I have a limited quit to remain visa in my US passport, that has my maiden name within it (still) and recently 'someone' (not naming names lol) washed my passport beside the clothes, it's really annoying, and now I need to renew it, it's still in OK condition you can read everything pretty powerfully, the visas are perfect, but I still want to renew because I want my married name on my passport.
My question is, what do they do next to my UK visa in my old passport? Obviously I still need it, will they confer me my old passport back and will I have to take both of them around with me?
I hope I find someone on here who knows a thing or two going on for this.
Answers:
You will get the old passport back and you transport both.
You will have to capture the new one stamped. Its not a big deal just something that have to be done. They should give you the old passport back gross sure you have it with you untill you get the clean stamp
