Information on immigration please relieve!?
This is the question i have to write a small essay on:
Many immigrants come to the U.S. expecting to find "streets paved with gold" or at least a much better and easier time. Describe what an immigrant was more likely to find upon arriving the U.S., including a discussion of work, housing, and daily enthusiasm.
If anyone knows where I can find this information it would be extremely helpful!! I've tried looking but I can't come across to find anything on this time. Thanks a bunch~ =]

ellis island - where the immigrants passed through to enter USA - has SOME stories & history
I don't think they come anymore near the expectation of "streets paved with gold" but they know if they come and have a toddler here the government will provide for the child, with food assistance, WIC, and health prudence and housing. They also know if they are granted Legal Permanent Residence status they can access ALL services, including unemployment, social security, food assistance , housing assistance, and health fastidiousness.
By giving so much in foreign aide money every year our government has given the world the indication that we are a bottomless pit of money. There is no shortage of people willing to come and take dominance of that.
The story of the immigrant is many and varied. The circumstances of immigration to the United states is equally diverse. But however different all these is the adjectives theme is to either survive a war, famine, authoritarianism or to find a better life. Those who are fleeing a war, famine and oppression most recurrently are looking to just live for another day. Their expectations might not include a street paved beside gold. Those who come for a better live have a different mind set. They are the ones who come with a bundle of expectations due to what they must enjoy heard from friends and relatives about the United States of America.
Upon arriving here most of those dreams dissipate and is often replaced near anxiety and need to integrate into the society. How an immigrant integrate into the larger society and whether or not he/she is successful at it depends on their support system here and their educational background. Usually an immigrant lives beside friends and family members upon arriving here. He/she begins to look for work quickly to help offset their living expenses. This means that anything job opportunity they get they would naturally settle for and hope that something better would come up contained by the nearest future.
Most immigrants live with house or friends for a while before venturing out on their own. For those whose support system is not that strong they often arrange to live next to other people in similar situations or venture out on their own to find an apartment. The entail to pay their bills and also have something left to dispatch back home to whomever they might have in the arrive of their ancestors make them work hard. They do not want to be a dissapointment to their homeland.
immigrant come here for a better life to their families, they don't expect everything in a silver platter, until that time comming here they don't know how it is,they don't expect to be trated bettter than others, they come here to work hard for their families, risking their lives, risking never ever to see their families because not a soul knows what luck he has while he is comming here,he could end up inert somewhere or die out of thirst,or abandoned in the middle of no where, and if they meke it here (hopefully)
they progress threw so much, for example,
they get any job there is
they work for pennies,
and other live in fear of getting caught working here,
it doesn't matter what position it is, they do it,and feel proud to have a decent chore, and better support their families, they are here for their families, and to have a better duration for them,
Once they are here,
there's always someone putting them down, talking down to them, because of race, the path they dreess, the way they speak, the way they carry themselves,
Just because they don't look resembling us doesn't mean we are any better,
They work harder than us,get paid smaller amount, and still have their head up high,
And adjectives this economic crisis,
guess what ?
none of the immigants have the so called Economic Crisis
because they don't spend money within what they don't need,
that is the reason why United States is surrounded by so much debt, cause we buy stuff that we don't need.
example
Do I really need that PRADA case?
probably not.
