Yes. Its pretty difficult these days unless you hold a job offer (tough to get) and/or are in a sought after pen (teaching, nursing, IT are a few). You might consider applying to a graduate program in the UK. That's a good way to get hold of your foot in the door, so to speak.
As a psychologist you would be eligible to apply under the Tier 1 visa as you have at least a Masters scope - assuming you meet the salary requirements. As for whether or not your degree will verbs, you should try to find a professional body for psychologists in the UK to find out if extra training is required to practice in the UK
You cannot apply for citizenship until you have rightfully lived and worked in the UK for at least 6 years - 5 years to get your unalterable residency, then one more year to apply for naturalisation
